Portrayal & participation of minorities in the media

This paper was presented by MediaWise Director Mike Jempson at the Race and Media Conference, organised by the University of Ulster's International Conflict Research (INCORE) centre, on 3 October 2007.

It outlines the inaccurate and unfair reporting of two groups - refugees and asylum seekers, and Gypsies and Travellers - who are treated badly by the media, and suggests ways to improve coverage.
