Codes of Conduct

Codes of Conduct are a form of quality assurance and accountability. An effective Code of Conduct can improve professional standards of journalism and help the compact of trust between the media and the public.

MediaWise has assembled a large collection of journalistic Codes of Conduct from around the world. We have also explored the Codes to see how they treat individual topics. However, this section is still under development.

Every effort has been made to secure the most up-to-date versions of these codes. If you know of changes to those listed, or of any we have not been able to obtain, please contact us.

We would like to acknowledge the work of Professor Claude-Jean Bertrand of Media Accountability Systems (MAS) in collecting Codes of Ethics from around the world.
